Avenue Rapp 29

Stumbled upon the most amazing art nouveau building near Eiffel tower.

The impressive building was created in 1901 by architect Jules Lavirotte. The facade was just overwhelming, so many little details, sculptures, pillars, differently shaped windows and balconies.

Exotic door frame designed by the sculptor Jean-Baptiste Larrive

And the courtyard: 3, square Rapp

Flea market Sunday

On Sunday we took a trip to the last stop of metro to explore one of the biggest flea markets in the world - Marché aux Puces de Saint-Ouen/Paris.

There were hundreds of different stalls, both indoor and outdoor, selling everything from 20's furniture to old records, vintage dresses and porcelain.
I found nothing to buy but it was still exciting to browse through curious items from the previous centuries.
Atmosphere there was really nice and vendors seemed to enjoy their job and have wine&bread lunches with their colleagues.

Nice table with a hand statue - why not Do-It-Yourself.

Would make a nice picnic set, no?

After strolling around different stalls all day long we had a market-styled lunch and met with 'local guard', buldog Caesar.

I'm definitely going back one day as I discovered later that I hadn't even seen half of the market.

Spur October 13

One of the stories I shot for Spur magazine with four other girls in Tokyo.

Three scenes were all inspired by different movies

I don't remember the name of the movie for this picture but here's obviously some American housewife theme going on.

"The Umbrellas of Cherbourg" (1964)

We drove about 1 hour outside Tokyo in Yokohama to have a nice cobblestone street. Even though it was rainy-season in Japan, it didn't rain this day so they had to water the street to make it look real.

Always a nice spot to visit when in Paris.

um.. this time I made a rather practical purchase, a lemon squeezer for making hot lemon water every morning.

birthday evening

Courtyards of Louvre are truly beautiful in the evenings when the lights are on and it isn't packed with tourists.

21_21 Design Sight - Color-Hunting

21_21 Design Sight is the first design museum in Tokyo, opened in 2007. It's currently directed by  three of Japan’s most famous  designers — Issey MiyakeTaku Satoh and Naoto Fukasawa.

Their current exhibition was all about the world of colours.

Each visitor could choose one colour that defines their future and paste it onto the wall. I was glad to see the wall was bright and colourful.

Omotesando Street

Tree lined avenue is sometimes referred to as Tokyo's Champs-Elysees.
Omotesando Dori is unusually wide (by Tokyo standards) and has cafes with outdoor seating which isn't that common as well.

Every respectable brand has its flagship store there.

Zelkova trees line both sides of the avenue.

Art Aquarium Summer 2013

Japanese artist Hidetomo Kimura has built an entire career as an "art aquarist". His recent exhibition in Tokyo Nihonbashi Mitsui Hall uses 5,000 goldfish displayed in 17 installations made of 70 aquariums.

Goldfishes, lights and music - it all looked very impressive! In the evenings the exhibition hall turns into a lounge with live music and bar.

Wanted to show a bit more of the are where I stayed in Tokyo.
Shibuya is one of the 23 wards in Tokyo and it is said to be the centre of youth culture and fashion. The area around the station with famous Shibuya crossing is always extremely busy.

It's definitely very exciting and colourful place, maybe not the best for living.. little bit too hectic at times..
Look at all those people! And it wasn't even a rushhour.

Narrow streets between big building packed with all kinds of restaurants, weird dvd stores, strip clubs, karaoke bars and love hotels.
