Kaamos. Eesti mood täna. opening event

Last Friday the first comprehensive exhibition of contemporary Estonian fashion was opened at ETDM. The exhibition is accompanied by a book with the same name: "Kaamos. Fashion Now: Estonia" , it's a great survey of the current Estonian fashion scene, featuring 67 fashion, jewelry and leather designers.

The exhibition is opened until November 24.
Kaamos book is available here

Can't you feel the pain of doing that stitching and beading by hand...

Another amazing dress, this time by Liisi Eesmaa.
It would make a perfect graduation dress for me this spring only if someone transported me to the stage and back.

I'm glad to be part of the book and wear works by two designers, Karolin Kuusik and Marit Ilison.

How to: Acai bowl breakfast

Acai bowls were probably the best things I tried in Tokyo (yes, even after all the fresh fish)

Back at home I had to come up with a really easy way how to make it myself.

Frozen pureed acai isn't sold in Estonia so I had to opt for acai powder.

How to:
(1 serving)

1. Mash one ripe banana, add some liquid to make the process easier. Here you can use milk, juice or even water. My favorite option is mango puree.
(It's also a good idea to freeze bananas before to get a nice icy desert)
You can use a blender here but just a fork does the job as well!
2. Add 1-2 teaspoonfuls of acai powder.
Purple acai berry grows in Brazil's Amazonian rainforest and is known for its health benefits.

3. Stir until you get nice purple puree.
3.Now top it with whatever you like: I usually add a handful of chocolate granola, chia seeds and cocoa nibs.
Be generous with fruit and berries. Recently I made one with fresh figs as they're in season.
Be creative! :)
You'll find a lot of different bowl ideas on Sambazon website.

It has became my favorite breakfast and the best alternative to greek yogurt+granola routine.

Paris shopping: Nose

Nose is a rather recently opened perfume concept store on beautiful rue Bachaumont, Paris. The boutique is specialized in rare and independent perfume brands, some of which are sold exclusively only there.

Know that feeling when you go shopping for a perfume, don't know where to start, get confused and in the end decide by the design of the bottle or the celebrity in the campaign photo. Nose is all about making your perfume finding experience more pleasant, accurate and easy.

The special part of the store is the way of finding your perfect fragrance. As a first thing you will take a test on an IPad app: enter your previous perfumes to find out the main notes and components you like. The program will look for similar perfumes from the Nose product selection and you're going to smell five recommended perfumes

You can also take the diagnostic online here and you will be sent  a set of 5 samples of five recommended perfumes.

Put it on your Paris-list if you're looking for a special shopping experience!

I assume you can't guess what are these..
I found them from SOL Semilla store in Paris and wasn't sure by myself at first as well. Turns out that those weird stone looking bits are raw cocoa beans covered in maca powder. Of course I bought a pack as I was curious to try out and I didn't have to disappoint. These taste so good and give an instant boost of energy.
Recently I've been looking for alternative sources of caffeine and energy kick besides coffee as it doesn't seem to work on me anymore. That's why I also got myself a pack of guarana powder, which has 2.5 times more caffeine than from coffee.
Any tips, how do you keep yourself awake, concentrated and joyful?

SOL Semilla was my new discovery near the Canal St-Martin area. It's a combination of a vegetarian restaurant and superfoods store.

The PLAZA store in Tokyo hid many other treasures besides JOIK products as well. For example I discovered a great local Japanese beauty brand Vecua. They had an amazing honey line in which all the products smelled so nice.
I got myself this creamy cheek color. Together with a drop of Nuxe oil shimmer it leaves a nice healthy and natural glow.

The oil looks very shiny and orange in the picture but if you use just a few drops, the result is a far away from a nasty fake-tan.

JOIK in Japan

a throwback from Tokyo

Estonian natural cosmetics brand JOIK sold in PLAZA (Lumine2 department store) in Tokyo.
I was super happy to see part of Estonia represented in somewhere that far like Japan. I even met couple of make-up artists who had already heard about JOIK and really liked their natural scented soaps.

Musée Rodin

Really beautiful museum even if you don't take any interest in the exhibition. It costs only 1 euro to go to the gardens and whole thing is free anyway if you're under 26.

Pink Flamingo Pizza - pas comme les autres

Pink Flamingo is a must-do when you're near canal Saint Martin in Paris!
It's a small pizza shop on rue Bichat but easily noticeable by its pink appearance.
Their menu really was "pas comme les autres" -  like no other. Pizzas were named after remarkable persons and offered really nice combinations. For example we had Basquiat with gorgonzola and dried figs. They also had a Keith Haring special as Haring's exhibition was held at Musée d'art Moderne at the time.

There are four locations in Paris

And the best part? - you can ask them to deliver your pizza to the canal side. They'll give you a pink balloon and after 15 minutes a delivery guy with bike brings your pizza to your preferred picnic spot on the canal side.
So much fun!
I think that after all the fancy restaurants and brasseries, this was the best dinner in Paris.

Canal Saint-Martin

Canal Saint-Martin in the 10th arrondissement is the place to go when you're tired of Paris tourist sites. There are mostly only locals hanging out at the canal side or playing petanque in Jardin Villemin.
There were many little nice cafes and restaurants but a much cheaper option is to take you snacks and wine from a grocery store and have a picnic at the canal side like the locals do.

Centre commercial - concept store
Medecine Douce - jewelry
SOL Semilla - superfoods store and cafe
Also Agnes b, APC, THe Kooples.

My birthday in Paris seemed to be the right time to take all those cliche photos; with Eiffel tower, funny sculptures and beautiful fountains. So much fun and many things to recall later about turning 18.

les Galeries de Paléontologie et d'Anatomie

Surprisingly this time the most memorable exhibition experience didn't come from an art museum but from Paris Museum of Natural History. Their paleontology and anatomy galleries were truly amusing.

Beautiful three storied building from 1898, filled with skeletons and fossils. What a feast for the eye!
