David Mallett hair salon & care

David Mallett's salon is the go-to place in Paris when your hair needs a fix. Huge rooms with high ceilings are filled with pleasant scent of David's own scented candles, amazing taxidermy, a mix of modern and vintage furniture, stylish hairdressers and even better looking clients.
To maintain the post salon look in your hair, David Mallett offers his own haircare line in beautifully designed bottles. I have been devoted to the amazing hair serum for a year already and just got an extra bottle. Now I'm also giving a try to the newest product, The Australian Salt Spray.

Café Kitsuné

Maybe you have heard of clothing brand and record label Maison Kitsuné but there's a chance you didn't know they actually also operate a super cool coffee shop in Paris. It's hidden in the courtyard of Palais Royal, one of my favourite spots in the city. By the way, kitsune means "fox" in Japanese and Japan influences are felt at the café as well (matcha lattes!). Good coffee, fresh cold-pressed juices, gluten free cookies - a rare sight in Paris!

Hot chocolate with matcha

Although the place itself is tiny, you can always take a coffee and sit on one the benches in the park or by the fountain.

At an antique market

What's better to do on a sunny Saturday than visit one of many flea markets in Paris.
Vendors offer all sorts of old and odd things and although they don't seem to make many sales, they sure seem to have a great time, having lunch and wine breaks with the fellow sellers.

The only food stall offers casual foie gras' sandwiches accompanied by a glass of wine.. no hot dogs no soda anywhere.

kawaii Paris

Can't decide between Asian and French cuisine, have them both.. Sadaharu AOKi patisserie blends Japanese flavours with traditional French sweets.
They have black sesame eclairs, matcha green tea croissants and a wide selection of different macarons. I also saw they sold black packaged sesame ice cream, temptation was big, but no (for 15€). Have to go back to Japan for that!

matcha and black sesame macarons. Loved them! Favours were strong and macarons overall weren't as sweet as usually.

Surreal world

Quite often (actually almost always) I find myself browsing through fashion magazines and thinking why the hell we need so many photos in this world... most of them are simply bland, uninspiring and boring. I keep thinking how a big team consisting of photographer, stylist, make-up artists, hair stylists, models, assistants etc spent so much time creating a story and in the end it doesn't have any purpose... On the other hand, some days you see something that restores the faith in fashion and photography.
Like the story "Surreal World" below.  Well, you can't expect anything less when you have Tim Walker and Tilda Swinton together.

Sunday stroll around Montmarte

View from Rue des Saules

At the turn of the twentieth century, the Lapin Agile was a favorite spot for struggling artists and writers, including PicassoModiglianiApollinaire, and Utrillo. It was Picasso's painting "Au Lapin Agile" that made the cabaret well known worldwide.

View from Musée Montmartre and Renoir Gardens.
Museum of Montmartre is situated at 12 Rue Cortot which during its heyday was the meeting place and residence of many artists including Auguste Renoir. Perfect place where to learn about history of Montmartre, its artists and cabarets.

Galerie MathildeC.

The ear cuffs are now sold at this little beautiful gallery/store MathildeC in the 11th arrondissement, which many people refer as Paris' version of Brooklyn.
Be sure to check it out when in Paris!

le balcon

I'm madly in love with this balcony, probably the best thing about Paris, non?
In my dreams I live in a country where it's always warm enough to have your morning coffee in fresh air whatever the season. Here it's getting quite cold already... so I'll better just get wrapped up in sweaters and blankets.
