Sunday stroll around Montmarte

View from Rue des Saules

At the turn of the twentieth century, the Lapin Agile was a favorite spot for struggling artists and writers, including PicassoModiglianiApollinaire, and Utrillo. It was Picasso's painting "Au Lapin Agile" that made the cabaret well known worldwide.

View from Musée Montmartre and Renoir Gardens.
Museum of Montmartre is situated at 12 Rue Cortot which during its heyday was the meeting place and residence of many artists including Auguste Renoir. Perfect place where to learn about history of Montmartre, its artists and cabarets.

Galerie MathildeC.

The ear cuffs are now sold at this little beautiful gallery/store MathildeC in the 11th arrondissement, which many people refer as Paris' version of Brooklyn.
Be sure to check it out when in Paris!

le balcon

I'm madly in love with this balcony, probably the best thing about Paris, non?
In my dreams I live in a country where it's always warm enough to have your morning coffee in fresh air whatever the season. Here it's getting quite cold already... so I'll better just get wrapped up in sweaters and blankets.

New York Beans

Where to head for a coffee when Starbucks isn't your first option?

FIKA. Sweden born, New York raised. The Swedish word FIKA [fee:kah] translates into taking a coffee break to indulge in the ritual of conversation, often accompanied by something sweet or savory.
5 locations in downtown, midtown and uptown.

Americano from Fika, watch by Daniel Wellington
Little reminder that the code "stylehurricane" gives you 15% off your purchase on danielwellington.com until November 30. Only 7 days left!

FIKA helps out when you're hungry too! Love the little quirky snacks like chocolate "pills" and natural energy bars. Sweden influenced lunch menu also includes meatballs with mashed potatoes and gravlax

La Colombe Torrefaction
The cafe has no menu, no prices, no fuss, but I'm sure they have everything you ask for (of course if you are not a caramel-frappuccino-kind of girl). And those adorable  mugs..such a nice change to paper cups.
4 locations (in Soho, Noho, Tribeca and Hudson Sq)

Underline Coffee under The High Line on 20th Street.
An independent coffee house dedicated to serving fine crafted delicious coffee.
511 W 20th ST (btw 10th & 11th)

9th Street Espresso. The strongest espresso I've ever had - gives an instant kick.
Located in Chelsea Market + 2 spots in East Village

Billy Name: The Silver Age

The current show at Milk Gallery shows yet unseen photos of Andy Warhol's Silver FactoryBilly Name's photographs from this period (1964-68) are one of the most important photographic documents of any single artist in history. Billy lived in a tiny closet at the Factory. He was responsible for the legendary ‘silverizing’ of the space using aluminium paint and aluminium foil to complete the installation. When Andy gave Billy a Pentax Honeywell 35mm camera, he took on the role of resident photographer and archivist.

show is opened until December 7

New watch and new eats

Last Friday I finally replaced my old Casio with a new watch from Swedish brand Daniel Wellington. All their styles are very classical and sophisticated but I chose the most simple of them all - Classic Sheffield Lady in rose gold.  I love how it's rather big and outstanding yet goes with absolutely every outfit.

And the best part, use the code "stylehurricane" to get 15% off on your purchase at www.danielwellington.com The code expires on November 30

And what else is new? Gansevoort Market is a brand new food heaving in the centre of trendy Meatpacking District on the west side of New York. You can pick your lunch from one of many food stalls and enjoy it in a spacious dining area surrounded with crooked trees and an huge glass ceiling. Food options include sushi, tacos, bruffins (muffin-brioche-sandwich hybrid according to google), BBQ, coal oven pizzas, crepes, macarons etc and of course loads of healthy stuff like raw salads and juices.

This Costume Institute exhibition explores the aesthetic development and cultural implications of mourning fashions of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Approximately thirty ensembles, many of which are being exhibited for the first time, reveal the impact of high-fashion standards on the sartorial dictates of bereavement rituals as they evolved over a century.

The exhibition is opened until  February 1, 2015, at The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Veteran's Day Parade

24 hours in Florida with La Garconne

Had a very quick and intense trip to Florida -  saw nothing but palm trees and sunshine... not even sure if there's more than that there, however the location was perfect for suburbian themed shoot for La Garconne online store. The story will be out in February.

Girls

Long story short, I met Jessica when we were both about 14-years old bloggers living in our small hometowns, she in United States and I in Estonia. The same way I met Kelsea. When I first came to New York 3 years ago I met up with them separately, only to find out that they also know each other. Small world! Now three years later we came together to finally collaborate on something. Luckily Kelsea happens to be a brilliant photographer, Jessica talented stylist studying in FIT (The Fashion Institute of Technology) and I have the ear cuffs. Not surprisingly we ended up shooting a story together.
