Did my weekly gallery tour in Chelsea last Thursday and went to see Dan Flavin work at David Zwirner gallery just for some visual pleasure, I wasn't really in mood for deep conceptual contemporary art that day,
Dan Flavin (1933-1996) emphatically denied that his sculptural light installations had any kind of transcendent, symbolic, or sublime dimension, stating: "It is what it is and it ain't nothing else," and that his works are simply fluorescent light responding to a specific architectural setting.
Dan Flavin. Corners, Barries and Corridors is on view at David Zwirner gallery until October 24. 537 West 20th Street, New York, NY 10011
Go, but be aware there will be a lot people taking selfies in neon lights and interfering your view
