Whenever I ask locals recommendations what to do in Milan, the answers usually go something like this "Well, you could go to lake Como, or take a train to Florence, Verona, Rome.." The latter being a bit further away, I started from Como which is less than an hour drive away from Milan.
Como town itself is nothing very special but its proximity to beautiful Lake Como and to the Alps still draws a lot of tourists. Perfect for spending a Sunday afternoon - a little walk, lunch by the lake, trip up to Brunate village, one last gelato and then a train back to Milan.
For 5€ one can take a funicular up to village Brunate 720m above sea level.

This weekend we drove up to lake Iseo in north of Italy to check out The Floating Piers. It's a site-specific installation by Bulgarian artist Christo, consisting of 100,000 square meters of yellow fabric, carried by a modular floating dock system of 220,000 high-density polyethylene cubes making it possible to "walk on water"
Who thought that one art installation would be so popular - there were tens of thousands of people trying to reach the piers resulting in a chaos in local transportation and traffic. Eventually we gave up and just enjoyed the view of the piers from above.
Driving alongside the lake we ended up in a small village called Marone. Perfect for a afternoon swim and coffee! A spontaneous trip at its best!

Back in February I wrote about then new Estonian skincare brand Tilk! and their amazing hand and facial creams here.
By now Tilk! has gained a lot of popularity and also launched some new products. As I really liked their Regenerate me cream for combination skin, I have my hopes up Moisture Me and Spoon Me night cream.
Already the colors of the creams are amazing! The smell is earthy and the texture makes it to absorb very quickly leaving skin soft and glowing.
All the products are available online
There are some picturesque places in Milan if you look hard enough! (Well, true, Duomo cathredal isn't difficult to find). However overall look of the city is rather industrial and dull..

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, one of the world oldest shopping malls dating back to 1877.
Pinacoteca di Brera, which became an art gallery in 1809

Fondazione Prada in Milan, set in former distillery built in 1910, hosts exhibitions of contemporary art, film screenings and conferences.
And the best part of the visit? Bar Luce designed by film director Wes Anderson. The atmosphere and interior of the bar easily makes you feel like you are in the middle of some Anderson's movie set.

Expect some upcoming posts about Milan because this is where I am going to spend the next few weeks. It's my first time in the city so there must be a lot to discover, or at least I hope so!
Already on my second day here I felt like I needed to escape from castings&work madness and headed to Villa Necchi-Campiglio, an oasis in the hectic city.
Constructed in 1930's (by Piero Portaluppi), the house has remained completely intact, both inside and outside with its yard, swimming pool and tennis court. The property has been opened to public since 2008 and now anyone can walk around in the yard, enjoy a drink or lunch by the pool and take guided tour inside the villa. I was very happy I took the tour, worth the 10 euros. There so much to see inside - endless inspiration and awe.
The place might seem familiar in case you have seen 2009's film "Io Sono l'amore" (aka I am Love) starring Tilda Swinton as the main part of he movie is filmed at the very same villa.

Amazing veranda! When I was little I was dreaming of living in a green house, well, this is even better
Bathrooms were definitely my favourite, black tiles and round windows imitating the ones in ships.
Finally made my first purchase from Korean cult brand Dr.Jart+.
Although I must say the brand seems much more popular in the US, where widely promoted by Sephora, rather than here in Korea.
How good is that clean and white packaging..
Any other recommendations from Dr.Jart?
